Position Summary:
The Wood Library-Museum of Anesthesiology (WLM) is a 501c(3) affiliate institution of the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA).
The Archives and Library Assistant supports the organization, preservation, and accessibility of materials in the archival and library collections of the WLM. This is a part-time position (approximately 15-20 hours per week). Hours need to be worked Monday through Friday and within the window of 7:30am-6:00pm.
Primary Position Responsibilities:
- Perform cataloging, classification, processing, and maintenance activities for library and archival collections.

- Assist with maintaining and updating the collection management system to support accurate and complete records.

- Assist with reference inquiries and research visits.
|
- Support WLM programs and services.
|
- Digitize collection materials and create metadata to support discovery and preservation.
|
- Assist with scheduled inventories of library collections, rare book room collections, and archival materials.
|
- Protect and preserve collections in accordance with best practices and organizational procedures.
|
- Rehouse and label materials for preservation and accessibility.
|
- Adhere to institutional policies and professional ethical standards.
|
- Maintain collection areas in a neat and organized manner.

Position Qualifications:
- High school or vocational degree required with some experience supported by on-the-job training.
|
- Minimum 1 year of professional training or work experience in library cataloging and knowledge of archival principles and operations.
|
- Familiarity with digitization, cataloging workflows, metadata standards, and the born-digital archival lifecycle.
|
- Experience working with a foundation or non-profit organization preferred.
|
- Ability to perform repetitive work and attention to detail is necessary.

Position Compensation:
This position is a non-exempt/hourly position. The target hiring pay range for this position is: $25 per hour. This position is not eligible for a yearly bonus/incentive.
Compensation decisions consider a wide range of factors, including but not limited to relevant experience, skills, certifications, business needs, and organizational policies.

Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in an office environment with light noise. Work may be frequently interrupted. The employee will spend most of the workday sitting, computing, and talking/hearing. May require lifting (boxes) in the 10-25 lb. range requiring the ability to bend at the waist and knee.
