The Children's Advocacy Center provides direct social services for child victims of sexual abuse, severe physical abuse and witnesses to violence. The Center coordinates the multidisciplinary investigation of reports of child abuse with local police departments, the Department of Children and Family Services, and the Cook County State's Attorney's Office. Services include forensic interviews with children alleged to be victims of abuse, crisis intervention, linkages to expert medical evaluations, court support and advocacy, case management services, trauma-focused individual and family counseling and support groups for children and non-offending parents and referrals to community services. The Safe From the Start Program serves children from birth through age five who been exposed to violence, their parents and siblings. All services are provided for children and families free of charge.
