Position Summary:
The Anesthesia Quality Institute (AQI) was established by the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) in 2008 to facilitate practice-based quality management through education and quality data feedback. The AQI is a Patient Safety Organization (PSO) and home to NACOR, the largest anesthesia registry in the world. NACOR is also a Qualified Registry (QR) and Qualified Clinical Data Registry (QCDR).
The AQI Analytics Solutions Manager plays a pivotal role in delivering comprehensive data and analytics solutions to healthcare stakeholders, including hospitals, health systems, clinical practices, and industry through AQI’s qualitative and quantitative clinical data registries. This role combines product management, data analytics expertise, program management, and client engagement to ensure successful integration, analysis, and utilization of AQI registry data products at stakeholder sites while providing critical operations and research support for clinical quality improvement initiatives of stakeholders.
The Analytics Solutions Manager is the primary provider of analytic support to AQI’s quantitative registry, the National Anesthesia Clinical Outcomes Registry (NACOR). This position will collaborate closely with AQI’s Senior Operations Manager, Applications Development Manager, and Solutions Architect to lead statistical analysis and maintain key performance indicators and metrics, while ensuring data integrity, accuracy, and completeness across this national clinical data registry. This role will provide key deliverables, including but not limited to standard reports for measures and metrics, custom reports for clinical and industry stakeholders, and data studies for presentations and publications.
This position serves as Product Manager for AQI’s two qualitative registries, the Closed Claims Registry, consisting of standardized summaries and analyses of trends specific to closed anesthesia malpractice claims, and the Anesthesia Incident Reporting System (AIRS), a nationwide system for collecting individual anesthesia adverse events.
Primary Position Responsibilities:
- Quantitative Data Analytics:
- Support National Anesthesia Clinical Operations Registry (NACOR) data projects, audit studies, and custom reports.
- Support data integrity, completeness, and accuracy across all quantitative data sources.
- Perform statistical analysis and data mining on large national datasets.
- Contribute to development and maintenance of key performance indicators and outcome metrics.
- Create comprehensive analytical reports for leadership, clinicians, and industry stakeholders.
- Prepare materials for conferences and publication submission, including abstracts and manuscripts for publication.
- Conduct quantitative data analysis to identify patterns, trends, and opportunities for education.

- Support strategic initiatives such as quality improvement programs and projects, research, regulatory reporting, and benchmarking.

- Guide end-to-end delivery of data and analytics solutions to healthcare organizations:
- Collaborate with analytics and clinical informatics teams to ensure delivery of meaningful, actionable insights.
- Translate clinical and operational questions into analytics requirements and support data visualization efforts (e.g., dashboards, reports, and ad hoc reports).

- Product Management of Closed Claims Registry Program:
- Provide operational support for Closed Claims Registry, including standardized summaries of closed anesthesia malpractice claims and analyses.
- Develop and implement quality assurance processes for qualitative data collection and validation in collaboration with AQI Solutions Architect.
- Conduct qualitative analysis to identify patterns, trends, and opportunities for education.
- Prepare materials for conferences and publication submission, including abstracts and quarterly Monitor articles.

- Product Management of the Anesthesia Incident Reporting System (AIRS):
- Provide operational support for AIRS; monitor and analyze data for trends, summarize and generate reports for dissemination.
- Implement and oversee AIRS case categorization using ARHQ’s common formats for event reporting.
- Prepare materials for conferences and publication submission, including abstracts, monthly Monitor articles, and Safe Tables sessions.

- Provide support, project management, subject-matter expertise and liaison services to assigned Committees and/or Councils.

- Coordinate Closed Claims Reviewer visits annually for physician volunteers, securing malpractice insurance company participation; provide sufficient planning and training for reviewers. Monitor and educate physician volunteers on proper case abstracting and recording techniques.

Position Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Public Health, Health Informatics, Data Science, or a related field. Clinical degree with appropriate analytics or health informatics experience preferred.

- Minimum 5 years of relevant registry experience with management of data validation, quality assurance processes, and statistical analysis required.
|
- Familiarity with programming and analytic tools such as SQL, Python, R, SAS, Power BI, or similar. Familiarity with HL7, FHIR, LOINC, SNOMED, and Agile/Scrum methodology is a plus.

- Broad based knowledge of medical terminology required familiarity with ICD/CPT coding and clinical anesthesia terminology desired.
|
- Working knowledge of healthcare data types (clinical, billing, quality, outcomes) and regulatory frameworks (HIPAA, CMS, etc.).
|
- Experience in client-facing roles, with excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
|
- Familiarity with Patient Safety Organizations and patient safety work product (PSWP) required. Experience with AHRQ’s common formats for event reporting preferred.

- Excellent attention to detail in reporting and interpreting research results.

- Computer proficiency Microsoft Office products.

Position Compensation:
This position is an exempt/salaried position. The target hiring pay range for this position is: $115,876 to $130,786 annually. This position is not eligible for a yearly bonus/incentive.
Compensation decisions consider a wide range of factors, including but not limited to relevant experience, skills, certifications, business needs, and organizational policies.
