Position Summary:
The Systems Administrator is responsible for general administration, assisting in monitoring, reporting, and troubleshooting of all infrastructure-related systems and networks, on-premises and in the cloud. This position is responsible for monitoring and maintaining client facing hardware and software through the tools and systems implemented by the Systems Engineer and Engineering Manager. Ability to organize work, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines is required. As an Infrastructure team member, the Systems Administrator is expected to be an escalation point for the Senior Help Desk Analyst. As an ASA staff member, this position is expected to maintain a collaborative and cordial relationship with colleagues in the other pillars of IT and others in the business.
Position Responsibilities:

  • Administers, monitors, and maintains all on-premises and cloud systems, network and supporting infrastructure. This includes the administration of, but is not limited to, patch management, configuration/compliance policy management, deployment image management, event monitoring, user account management, collaboration tool management and other routine tasks required to ensure smooth operations of the environment.
  • Responsible for the maintenance, administration and collective duty of monitoring of all backup, disaster recovery and business continuity tools, on-premises and in the cloud. Assists in routine testing of tools, processes, and procedures.
  • Works with Systems Engineer and Engineering Manager to ensure timely remediations of discovered network and system vulnerabilities.
  • Maintains and assists in monitoring security systems. This includes but isn’t limited to monitoring systems for managing endpoints, log collection and analysis, network monitoring, email, content filtering and related activities. Provides recommendations for additional monitoring needs when applicable.
  • Act as first line of escalation for Senior Help Desk Analyst. Assists Senior Help Desk Analyst in ticket queue triage and support when and where necessary.
  • Collaborates with the Systems Engineer and Engineering Manager to provide feedback on administration of existing solutions, strategies and standards for all systems, networks and other supporting infrastructure, on-premises and in the cloud, in order to assist in building a streamlined and manageable environment.
  • Updates existing documentation and runbooks when and where necessary.
  • Maintains master inventory of all devices in the environment which interact with the network or our systems. This includes but isn't limited to desktops, laptops, mobile devices, servers, network equipment and telecom equipment.
  • Participates in routine testing of incident response tools, processes, and procedures.
  • Act as a representative to the business for the Infrastructure team. IT Infrastructure supports and enables the work of each department at ASA and understanding and meeting their software and hardware needs is crucial to growing the business.
  • Works with the Engineering Manager to develop and manage the capital and operational budget for infrastructure services and equipment.
  • Provide after-hours support as needed for critical systems.
Position Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science or related field preferred.
  • Certifications centered around system, network and security administration preferred. Microsoft and Cisco/Meraki considered a plus.
  • 3+ years: Experience as a system administrator, network administrator or similar role.
  • 5+ years: Experience with the Microsoft suite of technologies including Windows 10/11, Windows Server, M365 and Azure.
  • 3+ years: Experience administering networks. Understands basic concepts of networking including routing, switching, firewalls, wireless, VPN technologies, etc. Meraki/Cisco administration experience is preferred.
  • Experience administering device management (MDM, MAM) and patch management across both client devices and servers is required. Intune, Jamf, Azure Automation, WAC and WSUS experience considered a plus.
  • Experience managing collaboration tools. Microsoft Teams, Exchange Online and SharePoint Online administration experience is highly desired.
  • Experience in evaluation and management of security events and systems is required. Direct administration of SIEM, IDS, EDR and mail filtering solutions is a plus.
  • Experience with backup and recovery of systems and configs across various platforms is required. Considered a plus if you've participated in routine DR/BC testing.
  • Experience managing and maintaining imaging/provisioning systems is required. Administration expertise with MDT and Intune Autopilot experience is a plus.
  • Experience administering telecom services is required. Telephone, video conferencing, voicemail, call routing, auto-attendant administration is desired.
  • Working knowledge of virtualization is required, VMWare preferred.
  • Basic scripting knowledge preferred. PowerShell is a plus.
  • Good project management skills: ability to organize work, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines required.
  • Excellent overall communication and customer service skills is required.
  • Resourcefulness and problem-solving aptitude is required.
  • Availability outside of working hours to resolve emergency issues promptly is required.
