Purchasing Account Specialist

Under the direction of the Purchasing Supervisor, this position handles the daily functions within the purchasing department.


  1. Education equivalent to a high school diploma, some college preferred.
  2. Computer or data entry experience.
  3. Previous relevant experience preferred.
  4. Excellent human relation skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of staff.
  5. Demonstrates ability to work successfully with internal and external contacts.
  6. Strong collaborative and demonstration skills.
  7. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  8. Demonstrates ability to work independently.
  9. Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication, problem solving, investigational and analytical skills.
  10. Must have a valid IL driver’s license.


  1. Process medical supply and equipment orders for assigned nursing home facilities.
  2. Confirm supply orders that have been delivered to the nursing home facilities.
  3. Support Customer Service staff with problem investigation and resolution.
  4. Contact outside vendors to fulfill equipment orders.
  5. Reconcile vendor invoices and report discrepancies to accounts payable.
  6. Review Out-of-Budget-Requests (OBR) and obtain pricing and approval.
  7. Provide feedback on discussions at departmental meetings concerning costs, procedures, and processes.
  8. Maintain proper documentation and communication records
  9. Monitor rental equipment usage at the nursing home facilities.
  10. Facilitates and provides feedback to Supervisor on barriers, issues and risks.
  11. Maintain visibility to “Urgent Orders” to ensure accurate and timely processing.
  12. Timely follow up on any missing information needed to complete order process.
  13. Approaches customers and inquiries in a manner which represents ownership.
  14. Implement and maintain completion of training to comply with ACHC standards.
  15. Attend staff training sessions as scheduled.
  16. Performs other duties as assigned.
