Teen Program Specialist

Job Summary - This is an all year round position

Teen Program Specialists provide direct service to our youth members aged 12-18 years through activities based on Academic Success, Good Character and Healthy Lifestyles. They create a safe environment through positive guidance and discipline and ensure a well-rounded and enriching experience for all members. Youth Program Specialists also carefully plan and implement program activities that promote fun, supportive relationships, opportunities and expectations, and recognition.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Supervise a large group of youth members during organized program time as well as during unstructured play
  • Recruit members to join programs and activities
  • Utilize area management techniques to gain control of program space and ensure members are fully engaged
  • Communicate clear and simple instructions to members before each program and activity to ensure that members understand rules, expectations and directions
  • Provide positive feedback, encouragement and recognition for members to highlight achievements
  • Complete program plans on a timely basis as directed by supervisor
  • Prepare and post daily schedules near program areas for members
  • Follow program schedule to ensure area management
  • Pay commensurate with experience

Qualifications and Skills

  • Must be available during the school year Monday through Friday from 2:00pm-6:30pm
  • Must have reliable transportation to site assignment
  • Previous experience with youth development (eg: camp counselor, teaching assistant, coach, tutor) strongly preferred
  • CPR and First Aid Certified a plus but not required (We will train)

Job Type: Part-time

SALARY: 11.50 to 14.00hr
