Location: Schaumburg Illinois. This position is required to work at Trickster. This is not a remote or work from home position.

Position Summary:
This job sharing position contributes to several key roles in the cultural center’s operations: To support the cultural centers programs in detail, membership, and external communications programs, coordinate assigned programs and events, oversee admissions and assist with group tours through cultural center, manage cultural center shop operations via inventory and online program Shopify, and ensure excellent customer service to the constituents.

Shared Job Duties:

  • Provide excellent customer service and promote the cultural center mission and vision in all activities, work to fulfill the operating and strategic goals, and represent both within and outside the building.
  • Must be familiar with gardening and helpful for medicinal plants and Native Culture
  • Oversee volunteers who (and cover these roles when gaps): process visitor’s admissions, answer and route telephone calls, route mail and general e-mail to cultural center staff. Record and tabulate attendance and demographic records.
  • Coordinate and schedule docents, tours, and space rentals, assemble craft materials, set-up for programs and events, lead or assist with tours, crafts, and programs as needed.
  • Assist in developing and processing evaluation surveys, newsletters, and membership, fundraising and marketing materials. Generate and process mailings. Manage distribution of marketing materials to outside venues.
  • maintain cultural center’s calendar for public and internal events.
  • Manage cultural center store operations, order supplies and inventory, develop new merchandise.
  • Manage team of volunteers and docents to assist with these duties
  • Work on team in exhibit and program brainstorming, review process, and assist as needed in final implementation.
  • And other duties as assigned


  • Ability to quickly learn and perform all duties timely and with accuracy and efficiency
  • Knowledge and appreciation of Native American cultures
  • Experience in customer service and prioritizing multiple tasks to meet deadlines
  • Experience providing tours and/or public presentations to various age groups
  • Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Experience with contact management or donor database
  • Proficiency in operating Microsoft Office Suite , especially Excel, and ability to quickly learn new programs
  • Reliable transportation
  • Ability to lift and arrange equipment and furniture up to 70 lbs
  • Willingness to pitch in as needed, work independently and as a team
  • Must demonstrate respect and knowledge of American Indian culture
  • Ability to cover shifts during cultural center’s open hours and special events
