Technician (Cultural Services) part-time
The Prairie Center for the Arts is looking for a hands-on, tech-savvy team member to support rehearsals, performances, and events in our vibrant community arts space. If you enjoy live events, problem-solving, and working behind the scenes to make productions shine, this role is for you.
JOB SUMMARY:
This position provides support related to the implementation of the building's technical requirements for all rehearsals, productions, events, and exhibits presented at the Prairie Center for the Arts (PCA).
Must be available to work a minimum of ten hours per month, unless advance notice of a planned, extended absence is provided and approved by the supervisor.
JOB DUTIES:
1. Sets up and operates technical and other related equipment for rehearsals and performance as necessary.
2. Assists and supports back-of-house for talent needs and requests by rental clients.
3. Performs building attendant role during youth programming rehearsals and rental events.
4. Assists in the maintenance of the building's technical equipment.
5. Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Education equivalent to a high school diploma.
2. A minimum of six months of experience in sound, lighting, and/or set construction.
3. Possession of a valid driver’s license.
4. Proficiency with current computer technology, job-specific software, and customer service systems.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Exposure to inclement weather conditions.
2. Use of power tools and equipment, including theatrical lighting, audio, and projection systems.
3. Lifting of 50 pounds frequently.
4. Prolonged periods of concentration.
5. Frequent and prolonged stooping, standing, or reaching.
6. Ability to work at heights, climb stairs, ladders, scaffolding, etc.
STARTING SALARY RANGE: $27.27 - $30.34 per hour working up to 19 hours per week. Salary dependent on qualifications. The salary range for this position is $27.27 - $39.55.
