Dementia, by definition, impairs an individual’s memory, decision-making, reasoning, and/or other areas of cognition. Given the nature of these impairments, the involvement of a trusted care partner is critical in navigating medical appointments and evaluations and advocating during hospitalizations and other care transitions.
