Position Summary:
For over 30 years, FAER has been developing the next generation of physician-scientists in anesthesiology. Through programs and grants, FAER recipients attribute early FAER funding as the key to their successful careers in research. The FAER Development Manager will provide fundraising guidance and expertise to leadership, and will be responsible for developing and implementing a dynamic strategic development plan, accepting personal responsibility for cultivating and soliciting all types of gifts, and ensuring that all aspects of FAER’s development activities are implemented to advance the entire development plan and advance FAER’s mission.
 
Primary Position Responsibilities:
  • Design a comprehensive strategic development plan that aligns with FAER’s mission and vision and supports the overall strategic business plan and organizational goals/direction. Annually update the development plan through the creation, implementation and monitoring of all development activity.
  • Plan, lead and manage development projects, including coordinating with peers to achieve desired outcomes, and tracking and reporting on progress to committees and FAER Board of Directors.
  • Forge new relationships to grow FAER’s visibility, impact and financial resources and identify and cultivate key alliances for philanthropic support. Identify, qualify, cultivate and solicit gifts in support of FAER activities.
  • Working in collaboration with the Director of FAER and the FAER President, obtain and maintain a strong working knowledge and understanding of FAER’s programs/grant making activities and administrative processes and procedures. Partner with all FAER’s team members to help identify areas for process improvement, working to create synergies and efficiencies, particularly where fundraising needs and program/grant activities intersect.
  • Working in collaboration with FAER and ASA staff, expand current donor base, including all aspects of prospect identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of all donor constituencies.
Position Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree required. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) designation preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in non-profit fund development with proven success in securing gifts and a demonstrated understanding of all aspects of a development effort.
  • Previous supervisory experience in a related function required.
  • Comprehensive management skills and experience are required including, but not limited to, short and long-term planning and oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing and implementing a comprehensive fund development program and producing charitable contributions. The individual is expected to be a highly competent facilitator of volunteers.
