Position Summary:

The Copywriter will write creative and persuasive copy to urge prospects to purchase ASA’s membership, products, meetings and services. Copy may be used for web, email, event programs and guides, direct mail pieces, video scripts, among other formats. Copy should reflect AP Style and ASA’s house style guide. The Copywriter works in collaboration with the Marketing Associates to understand the marketing and communications plans and campaign messaging and develops compelling materials that help achieve desired outcomes.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Writes clear, concise and grammatically correct copy that reflects AP Style and ASA’s house style guide.
  • Creates effective and compelling communications.
  • Understands different language styles that appeal to ASA’s target audiences and develops messaging that resonates.
  • Develops and maintains a clear and consistent brand voice.
  • Collaborates with the Marketing team and Business Units, develops and maintains ASA’s value propositions.
  • Conducts an annual communications audit and maintains a society wide comprehensive communications calendar that include all communication formats (WDS maintains email calendar).
  • Reviews all Marketing and Communications copy to ensure copy is compelling, aligns with campaign messaging and is grammatically correct.
  • Creates member communications that reinforce member value
Position Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Journalism, Advertising or related field required.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a copywriting role.
  • Association experience a plus, but not required.
  • Experience with writing for the web and Search Engine Optimization required.
  • Event or product copywriting experience a plus.
  • Computer proficiency with MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
