Job Description

 

SUMMARY
Reporting directly to the Schaumburg Business Association President, the Director of Membership provides the following services to the SBA in a key professional staff position:
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION
  • Lead New Member Recruitment
    • Create and implement a tactical sales plan
    • Create and maintain a comprehensive list of member prospects; managed in CRM
    • Profile and develop account plans for top 100 prospects
    • Solicit meetings and present membership benefits to top prospects, requesting an investment of time and money
    • Meet with SBA Board members and ask for referrals; develop additional referral sources
    • Maintain accurate and timely information in database
    • Finalize and implement a 12-month Member Touchpoint plan in collaboration with staff
  • Lead Membership Retention
    • Review and gain understanding of all current members and develop plan to enhance membership levels/activity and increase retention
    • Continuously analyze list of current members and make connections, as needed
    • Develop membership segmentation plan, key member plans, and promote participation
    • Work with Membership Development Coordinator to ensure retention calls are regularly made, tracked and all non renewing members are immediately reported to you for follow up
  • Support & Help Evolve Programs and Events
    • Help coordinate and implement activities that connect members to each other and to the community
  • Promote sponsorship sales and provide leadership and support, as needed, for Signature Events (i.e. Wine Tasting, Golf Classic, Ladies Golf Outing, Toast of Schaumburg)
    • Serve as primary contact for Networking Groups; support Chairs; assist with strategic direction and growth; attend meetings and events, as needed
    • Support, attend, and “work the room” at ongoing events and programs (i.e. Good Morning Schaumburg, Business After Hours, Leadership Luncheons, Summits, etc); Promote sponsorship sales, as needed
    • Run the New Member Orientations (every other month)
  • Additional functions include but are not limited to:
    • Support cross functional team goals
    • Foster creativity and innovation in current programming and member benefits to be a leading business association/chamber in the state. 
    • Create new revenue streams

 

QUALIFICATIONS

7-10 years leadership experience in sales and organizational development
Expertise in sales, relationship building, and special events
Strong organizational skills and multi-tasking capabilities; ownership and pride in work
Attention to detail; time and project management skills, ability to meet deadlines with professionalism and accuracy, and high degree of self-motivation
Ability to relate to others in an approachable, engaging manner
Ability to develop effective relationships with members and community leaders
Talent, energy, and enthusiasm to instill a sense of pride and success throughout the SBA
Professional demeanor, representing the organization with political astuteness and professionalism
Excellent communications skills (Written and Verbal) and effective customer service skills
Ability to develop administrative controls and process improvements
Ability to work independently and exercise tact in a nonprofit environment
A cooperative attitude in a supportive work environment
Computer proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
