Position Summary:
The Editor is responsible for production and editorial review of continuing medical education (CME) programs, SEE and ACE. Works with ASA staff, committee and editorial board members and subject-matter experts (SME) to deliver high-quality programs and products that are consistent in style and error-free. Participates in development and maintenance of CME electronic products. This position is also responsible for various operational activities of the assigned programs, including maintaining assigned databases, providing logistical support, and processing expense reports and check requests related to assigned products.
 
Position Responsibilities:
  • Edit and proofread content for continuing medical education programs.
  • Interface with ASA staff, and committee chairs and editorial board members of ACE and SEE as needed, to maintain a consistent editorial style for assigned programs.
  • Support the SEE program by maintaining the SEE Article Management database, coordinating the quarterly assignment process, and working closely with the SEE medical editor and other editorial board members and SME.
  • Assist with logistics and support for ACE and SEE editorial board meetings, working closely with meetings staff, managing editors, and editorial board members.
  • Work with appropriate ASA departments to update ACE and SEE Listservs and coordinate complimentary subscriptions for editorial board members.
  • Review the ACE and SEE dedicated email inboxes daily, responding to editors and other SMEs in a timely manner.
  • Serve as back-up for LMS content input for ACE and SEE, working with other staff as assigned. Provide support for electronic product testing as needed.
  • Assist in preparing content for electronic formats; including files for online posting.
  • Submit annual honoraria requests for editorial board members; check accuracy and completeness of committee member expense reports.
  • Maintain working knowledge of CME requirements. Work with Senior Managing Editor and other staff to ensure compliance with ACCME accreditation criteria and AMA PRA requirements; collect disclosures from SMEs and assist with maintaining accreditation files for ACE and SEE.
 Position Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in English or journalism.
  • 3 years of experience in content development, working in a publications, communications or professional training environment.
  • 3 years of experience publishing/proofreading/copyediting for print and/or electronic publishing; scientific, technical, and/or medical (STM) field experience required.
  • Experience editing using AMA Manual of Style, highly desirable.
  • Competent with web-based publishing and content management systems.
  • Database management experience, highly desirable.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software. Adobe InDesign and Photoshop experience preferred.
