The opioid epidemic is the most significant public health and public safety crisis facing Illinois. The Illinois Opioid Action Plan presents the State of Illinois' collective call to action. The opioid crisis affects everyone in the state in some way. Its victims are of all ages, races, and walks of life. The health care system has been devastated by the opioid epidemic. Addictive opiate medications have not been shown to benefit patients with chronic pain, yet they are the most prescribed pills in the United States.
This month's Good Morning Schaumburg will feature a diverse panel of experts discussing this epidemic.
